Audition Process:
Judging will take place in two rounds. The first round will be based on online video submissions, and the second round will be an in-person Finals audition. The Lynnwood Arts Commission will select 10 finalists and 2 alternates per age category, and a panel of judges with music and performance backgrounds will choose 1 winner and 1 runner-up from each category. To remain eligible, singers must be available for both the May 31 Finals audition and the June 26 performance.
The Finals audition will be held on May 31 at the Edmonds College Black Box Theatre and is open and free for the public to attend. Free parking will be available in Lots O & P. The K–5 category will begin with sound check from 11:15–11:45 AM, followed by performances at 12:00 PM and winner announcement at 1:30 PM. Performance Guidelines:
- Songs may be from any genre, including classical, Broadway, country, jazz, rock, or pop, but must be appropriate for the event.
- The same song must be used for the video audition, Finals, and final performance.
- Songs are limited to 2 minutes maximum.
- Singers may perform with a recorded backing track or accompany themselves, but a cappella performances are not allowed.
- Only one microphone will be provided during Finals.
Additional Opportunities:
- Between May 15 and May 30, finalists may schedule a free coaching session with a professional singer to help prepare for the Finals. The Idol Committee may also assist with finding backing tracks if needed.
