Elizabeth Ruth Wallace Living Trust Donation to Lynnwood Parks and Recreation Foundation
The Lynnwood Parks and Recreation Foundation has received its largest donation in its 13-year history from the Elizabeth Ruth Wallace Living Trust.
On February 7th, the Foundation was presented with a $ 500,000 check from the Living Trust. Elizabeth Ruth Wallace grew up in Alderwood Manor and graduated from Edmonds High School in 1942. She left the area to work as a civilian in the US Army. Later, she moved to California where she married and made her home until her death in 2016.
This trust is administered by her niece, Cheri Ryan, and nephew, Kevin Stadler, both longtime Lynnwood community advocates.
A total of $ 150,000 has been set aside to help complete the restoration of the Water Tower at Heritage Park, the city’s historical site. The water tower was moved to the park in 2003 from its original location on historic farmland. It is one of only two structures that remain from the Alderwood Manor demonstration farm which closed in 1933. Additional funds for this project will likely come from grants and other fund raising projects.
The donation will also fund a new children’s playground at the park along with a “I Love Lynnwood” sign and a decal for a parks and recreation vehicle designed to resemble the Interurban Trolley that is also housed at the park.
Ms. Ryan stated, “Heritage Park is such a jewel in the City’s park system and we look forward to seeing these projects completed and hope they will bring much enjoyment to the residents of the city.”
